We're moving our data center; the changes will result in greater system stability, reliability, and speed, and some other behind-the-scenes benefits.
We're continually improving services here at CornerBarPR.com: We've done a series of upgrades, refinements, tweaks, adjustments, and improvements over the past several months -- some of them arcane stuff, none of which is particularly noticeable except in special circumstances, but the aggregate of which has been noticeable improvement. This is a bit more major.
For the geek set, here's some more detail:
Our new data center sits on four different telecom Sonet (Synchronous Optical Network) fiber rings from AT&T, MCI/Worldcom, Qwest, and SBC. To achieve a fiber Sonet ring, each telecom company buries fiber optic cable in the ground along a unique, circular path, throughout a metropolitan area. This results in a multiple ring-like shapes, so that, if a fiber cut occurs anywhere along a specific ring, traffic on the fiber is immediately re-routed to the opposite direction from the cut, ensuring continuous service availability.
We'll be initially connecting our new data center to the SBC fiber in the building, to be followed later by connections to the other three carriers.
We'll also have improved, redundant electrical power feeds to further bolster our existing power backup systems, as well as improvements in site and facility security. And we'll have further improvements and enhancements in the near future.
The result, of course, will be better service, but we understand that Friday's interruption poses an inconvenience.
Just thought we'd let you know what was going on.
